Kinetic Support is committed to implementing a system that ensures each participant receives quality services and supports while respecting and protecting their dignity and right to privacy. We comply with the Privacy Act 1988 and the NDIS Quality and Safeguarding Framework requirements, as well as other legal obligations.
Collection of Personal Information
- To ensure privacy during discussions of sensitive or personal matters, Kinetic Support will only collect personal information that is necessary for providing high-quality services and supports. This information is given voluntarily by the participant.
- We protect and uphold the dignity and right to privacy of participants for all personal and confidential information.
- Our employees and workers are trained to respect and safeguard participants’ privacy.
Transparency and Consent
- Participants will be informed about the type of personal information collected, including recorded material in audio and/or visual format, and the purpose of collection.
- If required, we provide interpreters for communication with participants and work with their interpreters or representatives.
- All personal and confidential information is collected, used, retained, and disclosed to other parties (such as advocates) only with the participant’s consent.
Disclosure and Security
- We inform participants about circumstances in which their information may be disclosed, including situations where disclosure is required or authorized by law.
- Kinetic Support takes measures to prevent misuse, loss, unauthorized access, and disclosure of information.
- Participants can request access to their collected information at any time to correct it or withdraw/amend their consent.
Accuracy and Retention
- We aim to collect accurate information and keep it up to date.
- Documents are securely stored in a protected database with appropriate processes for access, transfer, storage, retrieval, retention, destruction, and disposal.
- Personal information no longer required or legally expired will be disposed of.
Feedback and Complaints
- Participants can provide feedback on service quality or make complaints about privacy breaches using the details provided in the Feedback and Complaints Policy section of the Participant Handbook.
